Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Rise from the Dead posted October 7, 1998 The Center for Theater Arts opens its 1998-99 season with playwright Tom Stoppard's postmodern masterpiece "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead." Stoppard's classic revisits Shakespeare's Hamlet, seen through the eyes of two of its minor players, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, as they try to make sense of the strange dramatic world into which they've been thrust. The production is directed by Julian Lopez-Morrillas, who taught acting at Berkeley for several years and has been a featured performer with California Shakespeare Festival, Berkeley Repertory Theater and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern" runs through Sunday, Oct. 18 at Zellerbach Playhouse. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m., Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 general admission, $8 for faculty and staff, $6 for students. For tickets call 642-9988; for information call 642-1677.
