Professor Emeritus Lincoln Constance, whose illustrious career at Berkeley spanned more than six decades, celebrated his 90th birthday with a large collection of friends and colleagues Saturday, Feb. 27 at Alumni House.

A graduate student in the '30s of Willis Linn Jepson, the first botany PhD from the University of California and founder of the Jepson Herbarium, Constance later become professor of botany.

During his long campus career, Constance also served as vice chancellor for academic affairs, acting chancellor at various times, dean of the College of Letters and Science, chair of the Department of Botany, director of the University Herbarium and a member of innumerable faculty committees.
