For artists who create both photography and film, the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive is the perfect venue for showcasing their work.

One such artist is photographer and filmmaker Johan van der Keuken, whose photographs are on display at the museum through June 27. "One Eye at the Camera, the Other on the World" is his first exhibit in the United States. A selection from his 50 documentary films will be screened at the Pacific Film Archive April 8 to 22.

Born and raised in Holland, van der Keuken's work chronicles the stories of ordinary people in various parts of the world, including India, Sarajevo, Spain, the Mediterranean and his native country. His photographs are closely linked to his documentary films, which explore the intersection between narrative and documentary styles, resulting in emotionally expressive portraits of people and places.

A schedule of Pacific Film Archive screenings follows:

• Tuesday, April 13, 7:30 p.m., "The Flat Jungle"
• Thursday, April 15, 7:30 p.m., "The Eye Above the Well"
• Tuesday, April 20, 7 p.m., "Lucebert," "Time and Farewell" and "Last Words: My Sister Yoka"
• Thursday, April 22, 7 p.m. Johan van der Keuken: Early Films (part of the San Francisco International Film Festival).
