Launching a bold new effort to understand and solve today's major health problems, Berkeley is redefining health science research by uniting physical and biological scientists and engineers.

Berkeley's new Health Sciences Initiative promises to stimulate new developments in cancer treatment, medical imaging, therapies for brain and spinal cord injuries, and the understanding and treatment of genetic and infectious diseases and the onset of dementias in old age. (continues)
