Graduate Student Strike Update

Posted March 15, 2000

The UAW, the union that represents UC graduate student employees, has called a strike for Friday, March 17 at the eight general University of California campuses.

At Berkeley, Chancellor Berdahl said, the campus is committed to meeting its academic obligations to all students.

UC has been bargaining with the UAW for many months with the goal of reaching a contract agreement and hopes to continue making progress toward an agreement. All UC campuses are continuing to negotiate. Bargaining sessions at Berkeley are scheduled for Friday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 22.

Up-to-date information on the strike and contract negotiations can be found at (www.berkeley.edu/news/gsi/).
