	Employees, students and campus users are asked to take the following precautions in the event of stage 2 or 3 energy alerts to curtail consumption: Keep windows and doors closed to prevent the loss of heated or cooled air. Reduce overhead lighting as much as possible. Turn off PCs, monitors and printers when not in use. If possible utilize a laptop computer instead of a desktop model. Turn off all copiers and other electrical equipment when not in use. Minimize the use of portable electrical devices, especially electric heaters, microwave ovens, toaster ovens and other electrical appliances. Building operators are responsible for maintaining and adjusting temperature controls to obtain optimum advantage from outside temperatures. Call the campus utility hotline, (800) 979-9995, for the status of utility emergencies when they exist; call the campus conservation hotline, 510-642-SAVE, for suggestions or questions about energy conservation.
