02 March 2001 | Chancellor Berdahl congratulates Sebastian Bea, 2000 Olympic silver medalist in rowing, at a recognition ceremony this week on Sproul Plaza. The campus honored 33 current and former Cal athletes who competed in last summer’s Olympic Games on behalf of nine countries. Cal’s athletes captured 13 medals — four gold, eight silver and one bronze. Most athletes returned to classes in January after taking last semester off to train and participate in the games in Sydney, Australia.
