PBS to re-air ‘Frontline’ piece on Berkeley admissions
19 March 2001
|
An updated presentation about the SAT and Berkeley’s admissions process will be shown Tuesday, March 20, on public television. "Frontline," a PBS news program, will re-air "Secrets of the SAT" at 10 p.m. The presentation is about the development and history of the use of the SAT in admissions, and it used several applicants to Berkeley as case studies. First shown in October 1999, the segment closely examined the campus's admissions process and the role that tests play. For the rebroadcast, producers re-interviewed the students featured in the 1999 show who were admitted to Berkeley. These individuals are still on campus. The student update is at the end of the piece. Although slightly dated, the broadcast may be of interest in light of a recent proposal by UC President Richard Atkinson to abandon use of the SAT 1 as a requirement for admission to UC campuses.
