Campus needs more free or discount transit options Editor, As the Berkeley City Council debates proposals to fund discounted AC Transit passes for city employees, the Berkeley campus already has successfully modeled such a program for its students. It is more than time for the UC Berkeley administration to fund a program for heavily discounted or free, flat-rate fast passes for staff. Did I say fund? Free? Is she nuts? Doesn’t she know about the state and university budget crisis? Sure, and funding cheap or free AC Transit passes is a lot cheaper than building more parking spaces, providing staff to issue more parking permits, policing the parking and issuing tickets, staffing the parking lots, etc. We’d save money, do a good thing for staff, and do a good thing for the environment. Why not? Jessea NR Greenman,
