UCOP sets 2001-02 academic salary scales For librarians and student employees who are exclusively represented, application is subject to requirements of the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act. Academic salary scales for lecturers and other non-Senate instructional unit members who are exclusively represented are the subject of ongoing collective bargaining negotiations and will be published upon resolution. A new scale for the title faculty fellow researcher will also be published upon resolution of the negotiations. Faculty research abroad program The program provides funds to U.S. universities for their faculty to improve area studies and language skills by conducting research abroad for periods of 3 to 12 months. The application deadline is Oct. 15. Submit questions for nuclear dangers forum Titled “Nuclear Weapons after Sept. 11: Terrorism, Geopolitics and International Responses,” the forum will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at Boalt Hall. The Web site — globetrotter.berkeley.edu/nuclearforum/ — contains information on the scheduled speakers and links to related interviews, documents, timelines and background materials. Members of the public may also use the site to submit questions, via e-mail, that they wish the speakers to answer at the event. The Chancellor’s Forum on Nuclear Danger and Global survival is dedicated to the memory of Alan Cranston, former U.S. Senator from California, whose lifelong concern was the control and abolition of nuclear weapons. Free car wash for campus parkers Included in the mailing is a coupon for a free car wash from Berkeley Touchless Car Wash. Permit holders can redeem the coupon for an Ultra Car Wash, a $19.95 value, anytime through June 30, 2002. The “Ultra” wash includes interior and exterior cleaning of the vehicle, an under-body wash, a poly-bond waxing and a tire rim scrub. Touchless Car Wash is located at 2176 Kittredge St., at Oxford, and is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Campus group holds symposium on aging At the day-long event, experts will discuss the body’s aging process and what can be done to postpone or even reverse the effects of growing old. Annual campus garage sale set for Oct. 18-19 The sale takes place at the Marchant Building, 1000 Folger St. in Berkeley, near Ashby and San Pablo Ave. Cash or check payments will be accepted. All sales are final. The auction traditionally preceding the garage sale has been postponed until spring 2002. For information, call 642-1186.
