Weylene and Pete Bucklin

07 November 2001 |

Louis “Pete” Bucklin
Pete Bucklin, professor emeritus of the Haas School of Business’s marketing group, has been awarded an honorary degree by the Stockholm School of Economics. He writes that the conferral ceremony, held in the Stockholm City Hall, is a formal affair with tails and long dresses, musical performances and dances.

“With the awarding of the degree,” he said, “one obtains not only a diploma, but a Swedish doctoral hat and a gold ring. After the awarding of the degree, one stands in front of the audience to a trumpet fanfare and the booming of cannon. The Swedes and Europeans clearly enjoy their ceremonies, and they do them very well.”
