Diversity success stories sought
29 November 2001
|
The Office of Human Resources’ Staff Affirmative Action Office is seeking departmental success stories on issues related to diverse representation, fairness and inclusiveness that make a difference in the workplace and can be replicated in other departments. The material is part of a new initiative, developed by the campus’s Staff Affirmative Action Office, to acknowledge and build on the success of supervisors and managers in the areas of equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and diversity. The success stories will become part of a new resource aimed at supporting the continuing improvements of administrators, supervisors and managers in those areas. Employees are asked to share procedures, practices, events, activities, training or organizational changes that fit this year’s theme: “Recognition Strategies for a Diverse Workforce.” Exemplary practices must be innovative and adaptable by other departments. In addition, they must be ongoing practices with outcomes that demonstrate an improved environment embracing the concept of meeting diverse needs. All campus employees — students, academics, staff or managers — may submit a nomination.
