29 November 2001 | Mechanical Engineering Professor Paul Wright, right, and students review the Airport PAL, a tracking and notification system that allows airline passengers more freedom while waiting for a flight departure.

The invention was displayed at a Nov. 19 “trade show” showcasing prototypes created for Wright’s mechanical engineering design class. Graduate students were given “motes,” or high-tech sensors, as their baseline technology, and were instructed to design an inconspicuous wearable product.
