Things were hoppin’ and poppin’ on Upper and Lower Sproul Plazas on Friday, March 14. The annual Charter Day observance, noting the establishment of the University of California in 1868, featured the traditional distribution of blue-and-gold-frosted cupcakes to all comers by a range of campus luminaries, including Economics Nobelist George Akerlof (second from right in photo at top right), Chancellor Berdahl, and student athletes.
