Security of personal information enhanced on campus systems
In light of heightened concerns about the security of computer systems and personal information, the Office of Human Resources and Information Systems and Technology have taken steps to modify HRMS Self-Service.
Changes made include removing the display of social-security number, date of birth, and other personal information that HRMS Self-Service provided for verification purposes. The service for displaying and updating name, home addresses, phone numbers, emergency contact, and e-mail address information remains in place. In addition, full bank- account numbers are now masked.
For details, go to the campus home page (www.berkeley.edu) and type “campus administrative memos” in the search field to find the official Aug. 29 memo on this subject.
