A chair — and accolades galore — for Judith Gruber

03 December 2003

At a gathering in the Morrison Library on Monday, political science professor Judith Gruber was honored for her years of service to the campus, as both an academic and a member of the campus community deeply involved in work/life issues. Honors accorded her included the Berkeley Citation, presented by Chancellor Berdahl, and the first-ever Faculty Distinguished Service Award, presented by Academic Senate Chair Ron Gronsky. In the photo at right she is presented by Berdahl with “the Professor Judith Gruber Chair,” which commemorates her suggestion, many years ago, that endowed children’s chairs and highchairs would make an excellent “naming opportunity” for childcare donors.
