Forum on faculty equity and diversity set for Feb. 5
21 January 2004
The Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate will sponsor a forum on faculty equity and diversity from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, in Sibley Auditorium, Bechtel Engineering Center.
In May 2001 the Chancellor’s Task Force on the Recruitment and Retention of Women and Underrepresented Minority Faculty recommended to the chancellor a comprehensive set of measures to increase gender and ethnic diversity on the faculty.
Gibor Basri, professor of astronomy and chair of the Academic Senate’s Committee on the Status of Women and Ethnic Minorities, and Angelica Stacy, professor of chemistry and associate vice provost for faculty equity, will report on the implementation of the measures recommended by the task force and continued efforts to improve gender and ethnic diversity. An open discussion will follow the presentations.
