Undergraduate researchers and their instructors honored

The Library Prize for Undergraduate Research recognizes excellence in undergraduate research projects that show evidence of significant inquiry using the resources and collections of the Library. Winners also demonstrate learning about the research and information-gathering process itself. Up to six awards are presented annually, carrying with them prizes of $1,000 for upper-division winners and $750 for lower-division winners.

Brian Quigley, chair of the committee that awarded this year’s prizes, says that the competition attracted the very best undergraduate papers from courses taught in departments across the campus. “The judges were truly impressed by the number of applications received and the extraordinary level of library research skills evidenced within them,” Quigley adds.

The application deadline for the 2005 prizes has yet to be announced. This year’s awards were presented to undergraduate researchers in the Morrison Library in Doe Library on May 12. Those honorees, their projects, and their supporting faculty sponsors are as follows:
