UCTV highlights new Lawrence Berkeley Lab chief

22 July 2004

Steven Chu, incoming director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, is the focus of several programs viewable on UCTV, the University of California’s cable-TV and video-on-demand outlet. (Channel listings for Bay Area localities are available at www.uctv.tv/cable/.)

On Friday, July 23, at 9 p.m., UCTV will air “A Scientist’s Random Walk,” an installment in Berkeley Professor Harry Kreisler’s Conversations With History series in which Chu discusses scientific inquiry and the evolution of his own research interests. The episode, produced last February when Chu was on campus to deliver the annual Charles M. and Martha Hitchcock Lectures, is also available for viewing on demand at www.uctv.tv/library-test.asp?showID=8642.

Also viewable on demand are the two Hitchcock Lectures themselves. “What Can Physics Say About Life?” can be viewed at www.uctv.tv/library-test.asp?showID=8592, while “Laser Cooling: From Atomic Clocks to Watching Biomolecules Move” can be viewed at www.uctv.tv/library-test.asp?showID=8591.
