Pamela Samuelson

The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology has named Professor of Law and Information Management Pamela Samuelson as one of three winners of its first Women of Vision Awards. Samuelson won in the "Social Impact" category, which honors women who effect positive change in how technology impacts society. Samuelson, director of the campus Center for Law and Technology and co-founder of the Samuelson Law, Technology and Public Policy Clinic, is widely published in the areas of copyright, software protection, and cyber-law. The award was presented in San Jose on Oct. 18.

Ilona Einowski

The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) has presented the William H. Flanigan Award for Distinguished Service to Ilona Einowski, Berkeley's archivist for the UC Data Archive. She has been the consortium's Berkeley representative since 1983. In conjunction with UC's Office of the President, she helped develop the California Digital Library online data-access system (Counting California). Einowski has also been active in the International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST) since 1979, the year she came to Berkeley.
