Fresno's Raymond named Human Resources AVC

Jeannine Raymond has been appointed assistant vice chancellor for human resources effective July 14, it was announced last week by Steve Lustig, vice chancellor for health and human services. Raymond's most recent post was as director of human resources at California State University, Fresno.

Raymond has more than 22 years of management experience in public higher education, first in academic affairs and then in administration. She received her Ph.D. in statistics and research methodology at the University of Southern California and was a tenured faculty member at CSU Fresno and past chair of the Department of Health Sciences there. She has more than nine years of experience as director of human resources at CSU, where she was responsible for reengineering human resources and assisting senior managers with workforce planning. In addition, she has held other administrative positions at CSU, including appointments as the director of institutional research and planning and interim vice president for administration.

Leadership duties defined

In her new role, Raymond will provide leadership for several important staff initiatives, including implementation of a new job structure, expanding the past year's emphasis on improved performance management, and upgrading the Human Resources Management System (HRMS). As part of the management team within Health and Human Services she will help address key campus priorities, such as the implementation of an integrated workforce strategy focused on the recruitment and retention of a highly qualified, engaged, and diverse workforce. This includes the launch of the new Office of Workforce Development, enhancing career-development programs, and improving training opportunities on the campus.
