Ron Murillo

Ronald Murillo, an office-services assistant in the Office of the Registrar, died of a stroke in December, at the age of 55.

A resident of Pleasant Hill, Murillo began his career at Berkeley in 1991 and worked in the registrar's office until his death.

"When I think of Ron, I think of someone who was committed to helping everyone on the staff," recalls Acting University Registrar Walter Wong. "He would always remind me about a purchase request from one of the staff that needed my approval. His primary concern was that his colleague was waiting and needed whatever they ordered in order to do their work. Nonetheless, I know that Ron also enjoyed the chance to give me a bit of a nudge. He had a warm sense of humor that was always delivered in good spirit."

Murillo is survived by his mother, Pilar Murillo of Walnut Creek, and by his brothers Ben, Robert, and Rick and their wives and children.

A memorial was held Dec. 15 at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward.
