Learn about UC summer trips to China at March 28 brown-bag session

14 March 2007

Berkeley students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to visit China over the summer through Silk Road to the Future, an offering of tour packages for individuals affiliated with UC and other U.S. universities and sponsored by the Legends of China foundation. UC employees and students, their spouses, and immediate family members (including children 11 years of age and older) are invited to participate.

Those who would like to learn more about the tours are invited to attend a brown-bag information session, from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in the Unit 1 Residence Halls Room L40, 2650 Durant Ave.

The four trip options visit Beijing and the Great Wall ($1,296), Beijing and three cities in Southern China ($1,796), Beijing and five additional Chinese cities ($2,868), and various cites in China and Tibet, including the Potala Palace and the Himalayas ($3,786). Prices include round-trip airfare, airfares within China, four- and five-star hotel accommodations, meals, ground transportation, tour guides, entrance fees to historical sites, and traveler health insurance. All of the tours begin in late July.

Information and registration forms are available at the Legends of China website (www.legendsofchina.com). Registration is first-come, first-served, with total space limited to 500; for the Tibet tour, space is limited to 10 people per campus.

UC's participation in this tour program began six years ago and is being conducted each summer until 2008, when Beijing hosts the Olympic Games.
