With summer coming fast, parents have a wealth of options at UC Berkeley for camps and programs for kids. Yes, they cost money, and yes, they fill up fast, but the rich assortment is one of the real pluses the campus offers our community. Elementary Division

Outstanding K-6 students attend a three-week session of enrichment classes at Washington Elementary School in Point Richmond.
Dates: July 13 to July 31
Times: Morning (8:30 a.m.-noon) or afternoon (1-4:30 p.m.). For an extra fee, ATDP students may also attend an on-site half-day sports camp sponsored by Cal Youth and Outdoor Programs.

Secondary Division

Academically talented students in grades 7 to 11 attend a six-week session of challenging summer classes on the Berkeley campus. Students who successfully complete courses receive a recommendation for credit at their school.

With an enrollment of 40 top middle-school students, the program fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration through projects with a focus on entrepreneurship. The hands-on experience introduces students to business fundamentals including finance, marketing, and accounting, and teaches them leadership and teamwork skills.

Join some 200 high-school students who will take classes and earn college credit at UC Berkeley this summer.

Students who have completed the 10th grade, show an overall B average on their transcript, and submit a favorable letter from a teacher or counselor are eligible for the Pre-Collegiate Program. Students can take lower division courses in Session C and/or D. Students take part in a special orientation and campus events.

The California State Summer School in Mathematics and Science (COSMOS) is a residential academic program for high-school students at these UC campuses:

In the YEAH Saturday Business Academy and its summer sessions, students in grades 9 and 10 are mentored by Berkeley MBA and under-graduate students through a fun and challenging business curriculum with a focus on entrepreneurship.

Preference is given to youth who are from low-income families, attend public schools, and/or would be the first in their family to graduate from a four-year college.
