Staff invited to March 24 town hall on the budget
19 March 2009
BERKELEY — [Note: the correct time for the town hall is noon to 1 p.m.]
Staff and non-senate academic employees are invited to a town-hall meeting to discuss Berkeley's budget situation and plans to address it.
Chancellor Robert Birgeneau and Vice Chancellor for Administration Nathan Brostrom will speak at the event and take questions and suggestions from the audience. In addition, campus experts on the budget, human resources and staff-development programs, and campus support services will be on hand to address general questions. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Harry LeGrande will moderate.
The town hall will focus on issues affecting staff and non-senate academic employees; a similar meeting for ladder-rank faculty will be scheduled soon. The meeting follows up on recent letters to the campus community on the ongoing campus budget situation.
The town hall will also be webcast live and archived for later viewing. Details are available at webcast.berkeley.edu; click through to the viewing instructions in advance to ensure that you have the required software for viewing the webcast.
Managers are asked to make every effort to accommodate alternate lunch hours for staff who attend the town hall, or to allow time for employees to watch the web broadcast from their desk or work area.
Wheeler Auditorium holds 700 people, and seating is limited to that number. To manage the capacity of the room, tickets will be distributed at the door, beginning at 11:30 a.m. A UC Berkeley employee ID will be required.
