The Thrill of the Hunt by D. Lyn Hunter, Public Affairs Children can gather knowledge as well as colorful eggs at the fourth annual Eggster Hunt and Learning Festival Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students from the Alumni Scholars Club will transform the lawn in front of Valley Life Sciences Building into a carnival of free activities, including egg hunts, learning booths, arts and crafts, food, games and entertainment. Children can also meet the Eggster Bunny, who will be hopping around throughout the day. The annual egg hunts are designed to accommodate children with disabilities. Festive baskets hanging from tree branches put eggs within easy reach for those in wheelchairs. Adults can get in on the fun, too, by sponsoring an egg for $5, $20 or $50. Proceeds go to non-profit childrens organizations throughout the Bay Area, including Childrens Hospital in Oakland and the Student Parent Project. Egg sponsors are also eligible to win prizes. |
