Two New Search Engines Can Help You Find Campus Info

Berkeleyans have two new ways to find campus information on the web. The search engines Cha-Cha and Snap! both promise to simplify searches for such campus-based topics as parking, retirement benefits and campus childcare options .

Both Cha-Cha and Snap! can be found at www-resources.berkeley.edu/nhsearch/. They can also be reached via a link on the campus home page.

"We're looking for feedback from the

campus community so we can evaluate how well these engines are serving the campus's needs," said Karen Gibbons, a member of the WWW Campus Steering Committee.

Comments can be sent by email to cpadmin@profile.berkeley.edu.

The software powering Snap! was developed at Berkeley several years ago.

Cha-Cha is the brainchild of Marti Hearst, a professor in the School of Information Management and Systems and Computer Science, and doctoral student Mike Chen.
