Senior guard Thomas Kilgore celebrates his three-point shot in the closing minutes of Cal's 78-71 victory over North Carolina in the Pete Newell Challenge, Dec. 29, at the Oakland Arena. Cal's upset victory over the ninth-ranked team helped propel the Bears in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. The game attracted 19,657 fans - the largest crowd ever at a basketball game in the state of California.
