Semiconductor Researchers A team of researchers including Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science William Oldham, former graduate student Richard Schenker and graduate student Fan Piao are recipients of the 1998 Technical Excellence Award from the Semiconductor Research Corporation. The team earned this award for its study of how light affects the lithographic materials used in semiconductor manufacturing. Steven Louie Steven Louie, professor of physics, has been awarded the 1999 Davisson-Germer Prize in Atomic or Surface Physics Prize from the American Physical Society. Louie was honored for his predictive theoretical studies of surfaces and interfaces. He will receive the Davisson-Germer Prize, endowed by AT&T Bell Laboratories (now Lucent Technologies), at the society's March 1999 meeting in Atlanta, Ga.
