• Berkeley is home to the first School of Public Health west of the Mississippi River.

• The School of Public Health received the third highest amount of grant dollars awarded on campus from 1995 to 1999, behind only the School of Engineering and all Letters & Sciences biological sciences.

• The School of Public Health administers 16 graduate degree programs and six doctoral degree programs, encompassing public health nutrition, genetic counseling, health and social behavior, and infectious disease.

• Through teaching or research, the School of Public Health is actively engaged in partnering with several other campus units, including the Haas School of Business, the School of Social Welfare, the Goldman School of Public Policy and the department of city and regional planning in the School of Environmental Design. The school also serves as home to the UC Berkeley/UCSF Joint Medical Degree Program.

• Research partnerships exist with the Lawrence Berkeley Lab, the UC Berkeley/UCSF Ergonomics Program, the Institute of International Studies Human Rights Center, Berkeley's Institute of Business and Economic Research, UCLA's Center for Health Policy Research, the UC Berkeley Center on Aging, among others.

• Participating for the first time in a multi-year multimillion dollar fund-raising campaign, the School of Public Health passed its New Century Campaign goal of $20 million more than 18 months ahead of schedule.
