Code Blue Stations Go Online

posted Apr. 1, 1998

Thirteen “Code Blue” safety stations have been installed throughout the campus and surrounding areas. They currently mark all the campus safety shuttle stops and line Grinnell Pathway, which begins at Center and Oxford and crosses the south fork of Strawberry Creek.

The safety stations, which become operational April 2, are the result of a collaboration between the UC Police Department and Parking and Transportation. If they prove as effective as expected, more will be phased in.

Each unit can be identified by a blue light that comes on after dark. Each contains a campus phone keypad and two buttons – a black information button and a red emergency button. When the red button is pushed, a blue strobe light goes off and the campus police are immediately notified of the location of the caller.
