UHSs Rincon, Kodama Garner Health Honors Two directors in the health promotion unit of University Health Services, Abby Rincon and Cathy Kodama, have received separate distinctions from the American College Health Association. Rincon has received the 1998 Miguel Garcia-Tunon Memorial Award in Human Dignity, presented to association members whose life, writing, research or way of living have promoted the cause of human dignity and nurtured the appreciation of human differences. She served for three years as co-chair of the associations task force on ethnic diversity and has offered strategies that ensure diversity is addressed at all levels, the association said in announcing the award. Her contributions in the area of diversity, it said, had a ripple effect on colleges and universities across the country. Rincon will be honored at the associations annual meeting in San Diego June 3. Kodama will be honored at the same meeting as a newly designated fellow. She chairs the associations health education section, is a member of its HIV task force and previously served on the board.
