Museum Offers Free Art for Mom on Mothers Day posted Apr. 29, 1998 The UC Berkeley Art Museum will hold a weekend of activities in conjunction with the exhibit Dancing at the Louvre: Faith Ringgolds French Collection and Other Story Quilts. On Saturday, May 9, the museum will present a book-signing and an opportunity to meet Ringgold from noon to 3 p.m. At 4 p.m. on Saturday, Ringgold continues her daylong visit with a lecture, More Than Thirty Years Making Art in the George Gund Theater. A captivating speaker, Ringgold will talk about her life and art from her youthful activist days to her travels in Europe and Africa. Illustrated with slides, Ringgolds lecture will illuminate the inspirations behind the development of her story quilts. Admission to the lecture is $8 general; $6 BAM/PFA members; $4 students and people with limited income. Advance tickets are recommended and can be purchased by calling 642-5249. Sunday, May 10, is Mothers Day and the museum invites families to come and enjoy Ringgolds exhibit with guided tours at noon, 1, 2, 3, and 4 p.m. In keeping with the occasion, admission to the museum will be free all day for mothers and their children. The museum will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For information, call 642-2358.
