Picture: Flush of Victory
The Cal team hoists coach Ray Willsey following capture of the Axe at the 1967 Big Game. This Saturday, Nov. 21, Cal's highly ranked defense, led by junior linebacker Sekou Sanyika, intends to stop Stanford's high-powered offense at the 101st Big Game. Kick-off time, before a sold-out crowd of 75,000 fans, is 12:30 p.m. Heading into the game, the Bears are 5-5 on the season, while Stanford has struggled to a 2-8 record. A win over Stanford Saturday would help Cal secure a post-season bowl berth. In the past 100 Big Games, 47 matches have been decided by one touchdown or less. Only 90 points separate the scores in 100 Big Games, the Cardinals with 1,564 points to Cal's 1,474. Street repairs on Hearst Ave. will make access to the stadium by car especially difficult. Visitors to campus are encouraged to take public transportation. The Big Game will be broadcast on Channel 7 KGO TV and KGO Radio, 810 AM on the dial.
