Affairs Assistant Vice Chancellor Sandra Haire has announced a reorganization of the Office of Human Resources, aimed at improving operations and preparing for the campus implementation of the Human Resources Management System. The Human Resources units most closely involved in HRMS - Planning, Evaluation, and Information Systems, Employment Services, Employee Development and Training, and the Berkeley Administrative Initiatives training team - will report to Director David Scronce. "David has experience in implementing systems and managing major transitions like HRMS," said Haire. "The work on HRMS will get started again in the next few months, and we want Human Resources to be organized in a way that allows us to concentrate on that development while continuing to provide our normal services to campus. "Some HR processes will need to change," she said, "and we want to coordinate the many activities connected with HRMS among the units in Human Resources and the campus departments who will be using the new system." Scronce comes to Berkeley from Office of the President, where he was director of operations and chief of staff to Judy Boyette, associate vice president for human resources and benefits. At the office of the presient, Scronce coordinated the UC Business Officer Institute and, as Human Resource Information Systems Ccordinator, was an active member of the PPS Payroll Maintenance Team. His UC career began at UC San Diego, where he held both managerial and technical positions, including manager of HRIS, and led efforts to re-engineer the staffing process and enhance financial systems training.
