			Ground Breaking for New Seaborg Science Complex posted July 15, 1998 Nobel laureate chemist Glenn Seaborg and his wife Helen traveled to his home state of Michigan last month for groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Glenn T. Seaborg Science Complex at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. The university is just down the road from Ishpeming, where he spent the first 10 years of his life before moving to Los Angeles. The June 11 groundbreaking signaled the start of new construction to renovate the Luther West Science Building and add a wing dedicated to the sciences. The Glenn T. Seaborg Center for Teaching and Learning Science and Mathematics will be housed in completely new and greatly expanded facilities upon completion of the project by the summer of 2001. The $46.9 million complex will house not only the Seaborg Center, but also the mathematics and computer sciences, geography, chemistry, physics, biology, nursing, clinical laboratory sciences, and communication disorders departments.
