The National Science Foundation this month awarded $80 million to 338 faculty members nationwide -- including seven at Berkeley -- for their excellence in engineering and science.

The Faculty Early Career Development awards support scholars committed to the integration of research and education. The awards range from $200,000 to $500,000 over four or five years.

Berkeley's seven recipients are: Carolyn Bertozzi, assistant professor of chemistry; Dmitry Budker, assistant professor of physics; Sanjay Govindjee and David Sedlak, assistant professors of civil engineering; and Tsu-Jae King, Steven McCanne and David Tse, assistant professors of electrical engineering and computer sciences.
