New Dean Sought for College of Chemistry Posted May 12, 1999 Nominations and applications are being accepted for the position of dean of the College of Chemistry. The search is restricted to Berkeley full professors in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering. The dean is responsible for the leadership and administration of the College and reports to the executive vice chancellor and provost. He or she is responsible for academic and administrative operation of the College and acts by delegation of authority in resource allocation, personnel review and program development. Qualifications include demonstrated academic leadership and administrative abilities, as well as an established record of distinguished research. Leadership in resource development from external sources is an important component of the dean's responsibilities. The appointment is effective July 1. Candidates should apply with a letter of interest and current curriculum vitae. Students, staff and faculty are also welcome to nominate candidates.
