Dancing Among the Eucalyptus Joe Goode Premiers Outdoor Performance on Campus Posted April 7, 1999
Performances of "The Leavers" are scheduled for Friday, April 16, and Saturday, April 24, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 17, and Sunday, April 25, at 1 p.m. Goode has been in residency at Berkeley for several months as a Regents' Lecturer. The new piece is the first he has created using university students. Goode's unique combination of dance, theater and video installations has won him critical praise and numerous awards from around the world. He founded the San Francisco-based Joe Goode Performance Group in 1986. The group is committed to bringing dance to populations that traditionally have little access to the performing arts, including low-income and at-risk youth, juvenile offenders, senior citizens and battered women.
