Awards Posted September 22, 1999 David Bogy David Bogy, the William S. Floyd Jr. Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been selected to receive the American Society of Mechanical Engineers International's Mayo D. Hersey Award. Established in 1965, the award honors distinguished and continued contributions to the advancement of the science and engineering of tribology. Bogy will receive the award at the joint conference of the society and the Society of Tribologist and Lubrication Engineers Tribology, in Orlando, Fla. Oct. 10-13.
Bogy served as chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Department from 1991 to 1999. Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Lisa Pruitt has been selected to receive the 1999 Engineering Excellence Award from the University of Rhode Island. This award recognizes a graduate who has attained a distinguished scholarly career in engineering and has brought pride to the university. Pruitt will receive her award in early October at the university's 1999 annual distinguished engineering alumni awards banquet.
